— Carson City Parks Foundation seeks nominations for Mills Park Wall of Honor Community Awards. The Foundation for Carson City Parks & Recreation, in conjunction with the Carson City Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Department, periodically recognizes, through their “Community Awards” deserving individuals, organizations, and businesses for outstanding contributions made to further the combined missions of the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation and the Carson City Department of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space. FCCPR seeks nominations of organizations, and businesses to be recognized in 2020. The categories for which nominations are sought are Organization of the Year, and Business of the Year. The Foundation Board is honoring the late Sandy Osheroff, former FCCPR Treasurer and Board Member as the 2020 Volunteer of the Years. Honorees will be added to the Wall of Honor located at the entrance to the Marv Teixeira Pavilion at Mills Park. The 2020 Community Awards ceremony will be held at the wall on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, at 5:30 pm as part of National Parks Month. The public is invited to send award nominations and may do so by obtaining a nomination form by clicking on the following link: 2020 FCCPR Community Awards Nomination Form. — Online auction for Carson Tahoe SPCA hosted by Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery. Daily through March 24. Artsy Fartsy Gallery is hosting an online auction in which all proceeds will benefit the Carson Tahoe SPCA.

— Capital City Arts Initiative to present 'Impact' exhibition featuring Lake Tahoe artist Paula Chung. Daily through May 28. The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition "Impact" by artist Paula Chung at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery in Carson City. The exhibition will be in the gallery through May 28, 2020. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Paula Chung’s Impact works address violence on sports fields, battlefields, and the streets. Through the use of medical imagery, she illustrates how violence affects us all.
— Capital City Arts Initiative presents 'Photo Finished 2020' exhibition. Daily. The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, Photo Finished 2020, at the Community Development Building, the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City. Nine students from Carson High School’s Advanced Photography program have work in the exhibit. The free exhibition is available to the public through March 26, 2020, Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. The Carson High students include Jackie Garza, Ansley Griffin, Karla Herrera, Meagan Kiesow, Kayee Konze, Kailee Luschar, Vanessa Martinez, Haley Trost, and Valerie Wamsley. The artists are all students in Kara Ferrin’s Advanced Photography class.
— Nevada Artists Association Judged Winter Show to run through March 27. 10 a.m. Nevada Artists Association presents the Winter Show. This is a judged show presenting a wide array of entries from Northern Nevada artists. This show runs through March 27. The Gallery is located at 449 W. King Street in Carson City and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday, except Monday. — Open Studio Painting at the Brewery Arts Center. 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work on your own paintings from subject matter you chose for yourself. The instructor will provide one on one instruction throughout the class. Students may use oil, acrylic, or watercolor paint. Dry media is also welcome. Bring your own supplies and source materials (such as photographs or drawings you wish to paint). This in an open enrollment drop in class so there is no need to enroll in advance. Class is on a “pay what you can” option. No payment is required, and if you do choose to make a financial offering, it supports the time and energy of the teacher, and helps pay for the space. — Conversational Spanish classes offered Wednesdays at Partnership Carson City. 5 p.m. Conversational Spanish classes are being offered at Partnership Carson City, 1925 North Carson Street on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. The first class is Wednesday, March 11, 2020. These informal and fun classes are offered to beginner and intermediate Spanish students of all ages. There is no charge for these classes, but donations would be welcome. Partnership Carson City is in the shopping center on the corner of East Winnie Lane and North Carson Street, which is Frontier Plaza. All are welcome!
— Seeking Safety workshops continue Wednesdays through March. 5:30 p.m. A 12-week public workshop called Seeking Safety meet Wednesdays through March 25. Seeking Safety is an evidence-based curriculum gained at helping women develop skills to keep themselves out of unsafe relationships and avoid self-abuse of drugs or alcohol. The workshops are open to women and participants are encouraged to attend any of them. The workshops are facilitated by licensed counselors. The workshops are offered by counselors through the Community Counseling Center that received special training paid for by a grant through Carson City Health and Human Services. Workshops will be held 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays, in the meeting room at Salvation Army, 911 East Second Street, Carson City. — Valiant Women of The Vote Mix and Mingle. 5:30 p.m. The Northern Nevada Women Lawyers Association and National Judicial College invite you to join us in celebration of the centennial anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment.
